At Kessingland Church of England Primary Academy we believe all children should be treated with respect, dignity and valued as God’s children. We work hard to ensure all children feel safe and protected during their time with us in school. Our school’s Christian vision creates an environment that actively embraces difference. Relationships are key and we have an open-door policy to parents and family members who visit and talk to us often.
In 2022, we were awarded the IQM (Inclusion Quality Mark) which recognised our excellence in our efforts to support all children and staff within our school and how we reduce the barriers to learning and opportunity. We have a dedicated Student and Family Support team and dedicated staff in school, who oversee the needs of children who need extra support to improve their learning well-being and mental health.
At Kessingland Church of England Primary Academy, we have a responsibility to help children to learn that we are created in God’s image and encourage them to feel safe to express their views with mutual respect, regardless of their faith, gender, race, sexuality ethnicity, disabilities, nationality or background. By understanding that differences are to be celebrate our pupils get a richer perspective of the world. We focus on their own lives and those of others locally, nationally and internationally, both in the past and present times.
We do not accept any prejudicial behaviour through actions or words and during our ‘Anti-bullying week’, we discuss with children ways to break down barriers, take the lead in challenging negativity and valuing differences. We encourage and support children to make positive and meaningful friendships and relationships with each other and staff, so they feel comfortable to talk to others should they need help.
Through our Skills for Life teaching, children are taught how to be comfortable and accepting of the person they are, who they want to become and how they want to live.
